Inside-Nightside
Typically lighting is intended for the interior of buildings. When there is exterior lighting, it is either for security purposes or lighting as a means for advertising/display. The intentions of the Inside-Nightside installation were to create a lighting piece that is specifically intended to project light outwards from a building without being for security purposes, advertising, nor display. The gesture is to offer lighting that is typically directed for the space within the building onto the space outside the building. The result is a flood of light cast out into an otherwise dark surrounding area, creating a space within an undefined space. The shape and arrangement of the installation were intended to be without meaning so that no icon can be discerned from it, the idea of motion may be both frozen and conveyed simultaneously.
