The Midnight Express Ride - 2009
The Midnight Express Ride was a fundraiser event for the Los Angeles County Bicycle Coalition - a ride unlike any other. Featuring over 6500' of climbing in 50 miles, riders departed Los Angeles' Union Station on a route up and through the Angeles National Forest towards Palmdale under moonlight. Riders were greeted with a warm breakfast at the finish.
As originator and Director of the event, I designed and produced all materials, managed registrations, programmed and designed the website, managed sponsors, organized volunteers, procured permitting, and all communications. Despite the postponement of the ride from its original date in November of 2008 to April of 2009 due to forest fires, the ride was largely successful: over $4000 net funds were generated and the event sold out of registrations. Forty of 70 registered riders showed up with only 8 not finishing the event. Not too bad!
