Photos from the original re-build of a Bianchi Virata.
(The bicycle has since been modified with various changes such as saddle, stem, pedals, bottle cages, and is a bit lighter than described below!)
From the 2004 model, the only things remaining that are stock are the frame, fork and expander. The stock build weighs in just under 20lbs / 9.07kg. With a few small changes (stem, seat), the pre-rebuild set up weighed in at 19.51lbs / 8.84kg. The final build, with computer (not pictured) and including the pedals comes in at a nice 16.33 lbs / 7.4 kg. Not too bad for a steel & carbon frame!
The bike was originally purchased used at an even $800. Total cost of re-build mods was just over $1200.
Not bad.
